A faculty member from the College of Marine Sciences at the University of Basra is participating in a doctoral dissertation discussion committee at the College of Agriculture.

The Assistant Dean for Administrative and Teaching Affairs at the College of Marine Sciences, Professor Dr. Abdul Hussein Hatem Ghazi, participated in the doctoral dissertation defense committee for student Hanan Abdul Hafez Ali at the College of Agriculture, Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources, University of Basra. Her dissertation was titled: “An Environmental Study of Some Benthic Invertebrates in Khor Al-Zubair.”

The study aimed to identify hydrocarbon pollutants, various heavy metals, and biodiversity indicators, and their impact on the total density and biomass of large invertebrate species found in the Khor Al-Zubair area. It also assessed the correlation between these indicators and the prevailing environmental factors in the region.

The Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs for his efforts in evaluating the dissertation.
