A scientific workshop at the University of Basra on microorganisms and their role in coastal pollution

The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basra, held a scientific workshop entitled "The Importance of Microorganisms in Iraqi Coastal Soils and Their Role in Pollution Reduction" on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in Hall 5. The workshop was presented by Dr. Kadhimiya Jawad Abdullah.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness of the importance of microorganisms in preserving the marine environment and their effective role in addressing pollution. It also sought to create an interactive environment for researchers and interested parties. Dr. Kadhimiya emphasized the necessity of cooperation between academic institutions and relevant authorities to protect coastal soils.

At the conclusion of the workshop, a discussion session was held for attendees to exchange ideas and experiences on how to utilize microorganisms in the marine environment to combat pollution.
