The Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basra, in cooperation with the Human Rights Unit and the Student Activities Department, organized a scientific seminar entitled "The Psychological and Social Effects of Drugs on Youth" on Sunday, November 16, 2025, in the conference hall.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness in the community about the importance of the issue of drugs and their negative effects on youth. It also focused on the psychological and social dimensions of this phenomenon.

The seminar included a lecture delivered by Assistant Lecturer Alaa El-Din Karim Atshan, the Human Rights Officer, who presented insightful perspectives on the psychological and social effects of drugs on individuals and society as a whole.

This seminar contributed to enhancing community understanding of the phenomenon of drug abuse, which helps in combating this phenomenon and raising awareness among young people about its serious consequences.
