An awareness seminar was held at the University of Basra about drugs and their negative effects.

The Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basra, in cooperation with the Human Rights Unit and the Student Activities Department, organized a scientific seminar entitled "Health Education: Raising Awareness about Drugs and Their Negative Impact in Universities," on Monday, November 17, 2025, in the conference hall.

The seminar aimed to increase community awareness about the importance of the drug issue and its negative impact on youth. It also focused on the psychological and social dimensions of this phenomenon, addressing the issue of drugs from all angles.

The seminar included a lecture delivered by Mr. Hussein Falih Naama, Dean of the Second Police College, who presented in-depth insights into the psychological and social effects of drugs on individuals and society.

This seminar contributed to enhancing community understanding of the phenomenon of drug abuse, which in turn contributes to combating this phenomenon and raising awareness among young people about the serious dangers associated with it.
