On Monday, 14th Nov 2022, a seminar on Khor Abdullah Canal was held at the College of Marine Sciences. Assist Prof. Usama Qasim Khalifa, from the Department of Applied Marine Sciences, presented the seminar and starting from its geological history, the shape of its bottom, and the nature and quality of sedimentation He also clarified the challenges facing the canal with the establishment of Mubarak Port, since the navigational line of the canal passes near that Port.
Dr. Usama also suggested founding a governmental agency concerned with managing the Iraqi coasts, called (the Iraqi Coasts and Regional Waters Management Authority), since our coast is small and exposed to occasional problems.
