The Department of Natural Marine Sciences was honored on Tuesday 26^th April 2022, by the Chancellor of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen. The head of the department, Prof. Dr. Abdul-Hussein Hatem Ghazi, was honored with the Shield of Excellence due to obtaining a prominent place for his department in the universities national classification. The classification was carried out by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Chancellor of the university of Basrah granted a letter of thanks and appreciation to the head of the department in appreciation of his efforts in heading the department. There achievement of the College of Marine Sciences, represented by its dean, Prof. Dr. Hamed Al-Saad, and the faculty and staff in the college were highly appreciated at the ceremony
