A master's thesis at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basra, investigated the hydrodynamic and chemical changes of the carbon system in the waters and sediments of Khor Al-Zubair.
The thesis, submitted by student Inas Nadhim Matar, aimed to provide a comprehensive and accurate scientific understanding of the dynamic interactions between water and sediments and their crucial role in the carbon cycle within the marine and coastal environment of southern Iraq.
The thesis comprised four chapters in which the student discussed the innovative integration of physical and chemical analyses of water and sediments, and studied the impact of tidal movements and hydrodynamic properties on carbon behavior. The applied aspects of the thesis included conducting extensive field and laboratory measurements.
