Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Adel Mazhar, a lecturer in the College of Marine Sciences at the University of Basra, participated in the discussion committee for the doctoral dissertation of student Alaa Adnan Badr, from the Department of Chemistry, College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Basra.

The dissertation was titled:
"Preparation, Characterization, and Analytical Studies of Some New Azo Dyes Derived from Certain Pharmaceutical Preparations and Some of Their Complexes." It addressed the preparation of new organic dyes derived from pharmaceutical compounds, studying their properties, and analyzing their complexes with certain metallic elements, given their importance in industrial and pharmaceutical applications.
