The Department of Natural Marine Sciences at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basrah, held a scientific session this morning, Wednesday, October 21, 2026, to discuss the research plan of graduate student (Master's level) Alaa Salim Abbas, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Amal Ahmed Mahmoud and Dr. Amjad Nema Jassim.

The student presented a detailed scientific overview of his research project's objectives and methodology. The session included in-depth scientific discussions by the committee, chaired by Professor Dr. Abdul Hussein Hatem Ghazi (Administrative Assistant at the College of Marine Sciences), and including:

Assistant Professor Dr. Salah Mahdi Saleh (University of Basrah/College of Marine Sciences)

Lecturer Dr. Ammar Yasser Jassim (University of Basrah/Marine Science Center).

At the conclusion of the session, the research project was approved after incorporating the committee's observations and recommendations for refining the research to align with the scientific and academic guidelines of the College of Marine Sciences.
