A faculty member from the College of Marine Sciences participates in the discussion of a doctoral dissertation at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra.

In keeping with the distinguished academic presence of the College of Marine Sciences at academic forums, and in furtherance of scientific and specialized cooperation among the colleges of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Dunya Khairallah Khassaf Al-Khazai, a faculty member in the Department of Applied Marine Sciences at the College of Marine Sciences, participated in the doctoral dissertation defense committee for researcher Sadiq Jaafar Talib from the Department of Soil and Water Resources at the College of Agriculture.

The dissertation, titled "Predicting Some Water Characteristics of the Shatt al-Arab Using Geospatial Technologies in Basra Governorate," was defended on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The dissertation addressed the application of geospatial technologies in studying and predicting the water characteristics of the Shatt al-Arab, contributing to research on water quality and water resource management in Basra Governorate.

Professor Dr. Dunya Khairallah's participation in this defense underscores the active scientific and research role of the faculty members of the College of Marine Sciences, their contribution to enriching postgraduate studies with specialized expertise, and their role in fostering knowledge integration among disciplines related to the marine and aquatic environment and natural resources.
