The Dean of the College of Marine Sciences, Professor Dr. Osama Qasim Khalifa, along with the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Nawras Abdul Ghani Abdul Zahra, and in the presence of the Head of the Department of Natural Marine Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Fadhil Jabbar Farhan, held an extensive meeting with postgraduate (Master's) students on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in the college's conference hall. This meeting was part of the regular and direct monitoring of students' academic and research progress at the start of the new academic year.

The meeting included a comprehensive review of the proposed research plans and a discussion of ways to overcome all scientific and logistical obstacles that students face while conducting experiments in specialized laboratories or during marine field trips.

The directives also emphasized the necessity of full compliance with applicable ministerial regulations and instructions, adherence to official working hours, and strict adherence to the established timelines for completing theses without delay. Furthermore, the meeting reviewed the mechanisms for publishing high-quality scientific research in international journals and databases with the aim of raising the academic ranking of the college and the university.

The meeting concluded with the opening of an open and fruitful dialogue between the administration and the students, where the college deanship listened with great interest to all the opinions, ideas and suggestions put forward, in addition to answering questions and inquiries related to the academic challenges. The deanship expressed its full readiness to provide absolute support and provide the necessary facilities to ensure an ideal educational and research environment that stimulates creativity and scientific excellence.
