The College of Marine Sciences at the University of Basra received a specialized ministerial scientific committee on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, to assess the scientific and academic status of the college. The committee was headed by Dr. Mohammed Haloul Mohammed (Dean of the College of Science at Al-Shatra University) and included Dr. Kadhim Hassan Bardaan (University of Sumer - College of Science) and Dr. Saad Haif Jassim (University of Al-Shatra - College of Science). The visit was part of an initiative to enhance the quality of higher education and elevate research standards.
The delegation was accompanied by the Dean of the College, Dr. Osama Qasim Khalifa, the Administrative Assistant, Professor Dr. Abdul Hussein Hatem Ghazi, the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Nawras Abdul Ghani, as well as the heads of the academic departments and laboratory supervisors. The committee reviewed the laboratory infrastructure and available scientific resources, and examined the college's academic and research operations.
This visit reflects the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's commitment to supporting academic institutions and improving their performance, thereby contributing to achieving quality standards and academic accreditation, and strengthening the scientific progress at the University of Basra.
The ministerial committee praised the efforts made in developing the college's situation in line with the ministry's requirements.
