The University of Basra celebrated its scientific heritage with a grand central ceremony marking its 62nd anniversary. The event was held under the patronage and in the presence of the University President, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim Al-Asadi, and with wide participation from deans, faculty members, and administrative staff.
The ceremony included a notable tribute to the outstanding efforts of the university's staff in both academic and administrative fields. The University President honored Dr. Furqan Khalid Kashish Al-Daraji, a distinguished faculty member in the College of Science, in recognition of his academic and administrative excellence and his active role in raising the academic standards and contributing to the university's research output. Mr. Osama Muslim was also honored for his exceptional efforts and dedication in managing the administrative affairs of university employees and his outstanding role in developing institutional and administrative work.
In his address to the attendees, the University President, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim Al-Asadi, affirmed that honoring this elite group embodies the university's approach to nurturing innovators, stating: "This recognition reflects the University of Basra's commitment to supporting national talent and fostering a culture of excellence and creativity among its members, so that they may serve as an inspiration to their colleagues to strive for excellence in service of higher education in our beloved Iraq."
This celebration comes at a time when the University of Basra is witnessing a significant rise in global rankings, underscoring its role as a cornerstone in building society and advancing scientific research throughout its 62 years of existence.
