Sajjad Khalid Mohsen, a graduate student in the Department of Natural Marine Sciences at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basrah, published a scientific paper titled: “First record of Macrophthalmus depressus (Crustacea: Brachyura: Macrophthalmidae) from the intertidal mudflats of the Shatt-Basrah canal, Southern Iraq.”

The paper was published in the Egyptian Journal of Aquatic Biology & Fisheries, a reputable scientific journal indexed in Scopus (Q4).

The research aimed to provide the first record of a type of crab found in the Shatt-Basrah canal.
