The University of Basra held a grand central ceremony at its headquarters to celebrate the university's achievement of third place among Iraqi universities in the national rankings. The ceremony was attended by the University President, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim Al-Asadi, the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Haider Khazal Mahbas, and members of the University Council.

During the event, a special award was presented to the Director of the Quality Assurance Division at the College of Marine Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Imad Jassim Mohammed Al-Shawi, in recognition of his active role and significant contribution that enabled the university to reach this prestigious position in the 2025 Iraqi university rankings.
