In a move reflecting unity and collective commitment, the Dean of the College of Marine Sciences at the University of Basra, Assistant Professor Dr. Osama Qasim Khalifa, participated in the open sit-in organized by university staff and affiliates in front of the university building at the Karma Ali campus. The sit-in was held to protest proposed policies that threaten university service allowances.
During his time among the protesters, the Dean emphasized that the University Service Law represents a legal entitlement that must be respected. He explained that these allowances are the cornerstone of ensuring the financial and professional stability of the staff who contribute to the smooth operation of the university's educational and administrative processes.
The Dean stressed that the college administration supports the legitimate demands of the staff, noting that preserving these rights is essential for maintaining the prestige and continuity of the academic institution.
