Under the auspices of the Student Activities Division and in cooperation with the Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit, the Human Rights Unit, the Women's Affairs Unit, and the Ata'a Al-Samaa Human Rights Organization, the "Victory Day" festival was held at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basra, on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
The festival was attended by a large number of students and professors and included various activities aimed at commemorating the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland. Among the most prominent displays were photographs of martyrs from the Popular Mobilization Forces and other Iraqi martyrs, serving as a reminder of the heroic deeds performed by these brave men in defense of the nation.
The Dean, Professor Dr. Osama Qasim Khalifa, delivered a moving speech highlighting the heroism of the Popular Mobilization Forces and the importance of their sacrifices in preserving Iraq's identity and unity. Dr. Khalifa emphasized the necessity of adhering to the values of courage and selflessness in building the future, praising the pivotal role of youth in this endeavor.
In addition, first-year applied science student Karrar Mahdi Saleh recited a poem commemorating our righteous martyrs, eloquently expressing feelings of pride and honor in their status. The "Victory Day" festival was not merely a celebration, but a reminder of the importance of honoring the sacrifices made by Iraq's heroes.
The festival concluded with open discussions on the role of educational institutions in promoting national culture and the necessity of commemorating the martyrs, reflecting the University of Basra's commitment to fostering human and national values in its students.
