The College of Marine Sciences at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Second Police College, held an awareness seminar on "The Phenomenon of Suicide" on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in the conference hall.

The seminar aimed to:
1. Enhance community understanding of the phenomenon of suicide and its causes.
2. Educate attendees on methods of psychological and social support for people at risk.
3. Encourage discussion on how to address this phenomenon in society.
4. Provide information on how to recognize the warning signs of suicide.
The seminar included a lecture delivered by Dean (Master's Degree) Hussein Faleh Nemah, who addressed various aspects of the phenomenon, including psychological and social causes, prevention, and treatment methods.
