On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, graduate student Hussein Kazim Muhammad, from the College of Marine Sciences at the University of Basra, delivered a scientific seminar entitled:
"A Study of the Accumulation of Microplastics in Sediments and Samples of the Shrimp Metapenaeus affinis in Iraqi Inland and Marine Waters."

The seminar presented scientific research aimed to shed light on the problem of microplastic pollution and its impact on the marine environment and important economic species, including shrimp, in Iraqi waters
