University of Basra is at the forefront of universities in the scimago classification

The University of Basra ranked sixth among private universities and colleges in the latest classification of international universities in the Spanish scimago classification.

The university president, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, stated that this achievement reflects the efforts made by the university in developing its academic and research programs, as well as its commitment to providing an advanced educational environment that keeps pace with the latest international standards, in addition to the university's continued promotion of sustainability practices within the university campus.

Adding that this result confirms the university's distinguished position locally and internationally and its insistence on achieving sustainable higher education standards in line with global environmental and development challenges.

It is worth noting that the scimago classification is based on a composite index that combines three different criteria based on research performance (50%), innovation outputs (30%), and societal impact (20%). Each main indicator includes sub-indicators such as the number of published research, the number of reference citations, and relative impact factors, in addition to requirements related to publishing no less than 100 research papers in the scimago database within the evaluation year.
