The College of Marine Sciences at the University of Basra organized a scientific trip for students of the second, third, and fourth academic levels to the Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education, Al-Qurna. The students were accompanied during this trip by a number of college lecturers, with the aim of enhancing their practical knowledge by reviewing the laboratories and modern scientific devices used in scientific research and postgraduate studies.
The trip included a visit to the laboratories of undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the College of Education, where a detailed explanation was provided to the students about a group of advanced scientific devices and their mechanism of operation. Among the devices that the students learned about were: the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and qPCR devices, the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry device (GC/MS), the infrared spectrometer (FTIR), and the ultraviolet spectrometer devices.
The professors also provided the students with the opportunity to learn about the importance of these devices and their uses in practical teaching and scientific research. The explanation was provided by a number of specialized professors, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Adnan Badr Ghaleb, Head of the Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education, Al-Qurna, who received the student delegation with Professor Dr. Ali Darb and a number of the department's lecturers.
The trip aimed to enhance students’ practical understanding and broaden their horizons about advanced scientific devices and how to use them in various scientific research.
