University of Basra visits a member of the Integrity Committee in the Iraqi Council of Representatives As part of activities to highlight the importance of marine sciences and keep pace with global developments in this field

The Dean of the College of Marine Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Osama Qasim Khalifa, accompanied by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Nouris Abdul Ghani Al-Faiz, visited His Excellency Representative Ahmed Taha Al-Rubaie, a member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee.

They exchanged talks about the country's marine and coastal affairs, the opportunities and challenges facing marine and coastal investments and projects, as well as the state of water resources and their relationship with neighboring countries.

The talk began about the idea and vision for establishing the College of Marine Sciences in 2016 at the University of Basra as the first specialized college in marine sciences, as well as the specificity of Basra Governorate as a seafront and the only sea outlet for the country, and the need to prepare specialized cadres in the field of marine sciences to work in governmental and private institutions and projects of a marine nature in light of the government's orientation to invest in these activities.

The meeting also discussed the urgent need to support the college, as well as the concerted efforts of local and central governments to improve its reality, as well as providing job opportunities for graduates by allocating job grades.

For his part, the representative welcomed this generous visit and assured the Dean of his knowledge of  The uniqueness of the College of Marine Sciences and its reality as the unique college in the country in this specialization, and it deserves support and assistance in all the topics raised, and he promised that he will spare no effort in supporting the college and that his door is open to everyone in the service of Basra and Iraq.
