University of Basra visits Foreign Relations in the House of Representatives

The Dean of the College of Marine Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Osama Qasim Khalifa, accompanied by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Nouris Abdul Ghani, visited His Excellency Representative Amer Al-Fayez, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee in the House of Representatives.

The two parties exchanged talks about the country's maritime and coastal affairs, as well as the state of water resources and their relationship with neighboring countries.

The meeting discussed the idea and importance of establishing the College of Marine Sciences in 2016 at the University of Basra to be the first specialized college in the marine field due to the specificity of Basra Governorate in this aspect as it is the only sea outlet for the country,

and the need to prepare specialized cadres in the field of marine sciences to work in governmental and private institutions of a marine nature.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of combining efforts to support the college through the local and central government to improve its reality and provide job opportunities for graduates.

For his part, the Deputy welcomed this generous visit and confirmed to the Dean the speciality of the College of Marine Sciences as it is the unique college in the country in this specialization, and deserves support and assistance. He promised that he will spare no effort in supporting the college in all the topics raised and that his door is open to everyone for the service of Basra and Iraq.
