Dr. Yousef Shafi Jabr, a lecturer at the College of Marine Sciences at the University of Basra, obtained a patent.

The patent included the design and installation of a locally manufactured low-cost microfluidic flow injection system equipped with microcontrollers to estimate negative ions in the waters of the Shatt al-Arab.
