Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazim, and under the supervision of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Rashk, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Marine Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Osama Qasim Khalifa, the College of Marine Sciences held its annual student conference for the period from 29-30/5/2024 to discuss the graduation research of fourth-year students for the academic year 2023-2024.

During the conference, many valuable scientific research papers were discussed that dealt with many fields related to marine resources such as marine life, marine pollution and fish, as well as the fields of physics, chemistry, marine geology and remote sensing techniques.

The annual student conference of the College of Marine Sciences is a scientific platform to serve the scientific institution represented by the University of Basra in particular and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in general and related institutions and society, as well as to review the capabilities of students and their practical and research skills to complete scientific research and studies and develop their skills in analysis, discussion and critical thinking.
This annual scientific event is one of the factors that improve and evaluate the level of education and scientific research, and motivate students to develop knowledge and achieve progress in this vital field.
