Between Tuesday, December 27th 2022 to Thursday, December 29th 2022, the Department of Natural Marine Sciences, College of Marine Sciences, held a workshop entitled “Management and Evaluation of Fish Stocks” in three sessions. The first session was presented by Prof. Dr. Nawres Abd Al-Aghani on the importance of fish stocks and the most important methods used to measure them. As for the second session, it was represented by Lecturer Uday Muhammad Hassan from the Marine Science Center and was on the assessment of Iraqi marine fish stocks throughout evaluating the size of the stock and preserving it by organizing its exploitation from losses that affect the sources of fish wealth and drawing appropriate plans to maintain the fish stock at the level that achieves maximum sustainable production by specialists in this field.The third session was on evaluating fish and shrimp stocks by adopting the electronic program FiSAT II ver. 1.22 The practical application of this program was presented by Dr. Abdullah Najm Abboud from the Directorate of Agriculture of Basrah. The lecture included practical training on the program.
