On Thursday 10th November 2022, the Department of Applied Marine Sciences at the College of Marine Science has conducted a scientific trip for fourth-level students to the Regulator of the Shatt of Basrah. The students were accompanied by Dr. Jassim Hussein Abdullah and Prof. Dr. Wesal Fakhry. The students met with the engineer Haider Aslal, the project official, where he presented the details of the Regulator’s reconstruction and its environmental importance. Then he explained some of the problems related to project maintenance, as well as explaining the method of ships moving through the regulator.
During the visit, some dust coolectors were installed by the students, as the project suffers from the presence of red sediments.
