On Thursday 31^st March 2022, the College of Marine Science has organized a festival celebrating the 55^th anniversary of the University of Basrah. The festival included the Dean speech given by his deputy for scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Dunia Khairallah, and honoring the distinguished staff members and students for the academic year 2020-2021. Prof. Dr. Dunia Khairallah was awarded the Distinguished Researcher, Prof. Dr. Amal Ahmed Mahmoud was the Distinguished lecturer and Mrs. Sanaa Yaqoub was the Distinguished Employee. In addition to that, the students who excel academically were honored with certificate of appreciation. They were student Fatima Odeh Ahmed from the Department of Applied Marine Sciences and the student Manar Muhammad Abdul Razzaq from the Department of Natural Marine Sciences. Students who excel in their activities were honored as well, they were student Hussein Zamil from the Department of Applied Marine Sciences and student Ahmed Amjad Hussein from the Department of Natural Marine Sciences. The festival included a number of student activitiesas well as several exhibitions of handicrafts, books and plants, and there was a distinguished presence of Al-Ain Foundation for Orphans Care.
